On the 15th September, the searchers of the Association of researchers for military-historical heritage “Platzdarm”, Slavyansk town of Donetsk region, conducted the exhumation of the soldiers who deceased during the Great Patriotic War. About the found remains Alexey Yukov, Head of “Platzdarmers”, was told by one of the members of the search party.  He conducted a free search in Ternovoye forest (“Roscha Ogurets”) not far from Bogorodichnoye of Slavyansk district where he came across the remains of the deceased.
By the searchers it was taken a decision to start search operations in the indicated place on expedite basis. Having arrived at the place, the searchers of “Platzdarm” discovered the bones scattered through the forest on the ground's surface, in the radius of 300/300 m. It was seen that some of the remains had already been “worked at” by looters, as on some bones one could see fresh blows of shovels; some victims have laid at the places of their death since the times of the war.

During the Great Patriotic War in this grove there were fierce battles, so in the ground it could remain a great number of UXO (unexploded ordnance) the searchers could come across when working. So, first of all, for their own security, guys decided to carefully walk across the whole territory with a metal detector. And it was definitely not in vain. There were found 6 artillery shells (5-76 mm, 1-45 mm), two hand grenades (RG-42, F-1), and 3 mines (50 mm). All the unexploded ordnance was given to the State Emergency Service.
It took a considerable amount of time that “Platzdarmers” could find and exhume the remains. During the work there were discovered a lot of personal things of the soldiers, different kinds of shells and the fragments of ammunition. Among the findings the most interesting were the Mosin–Nagant, a pot of WPRA (the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army), and a case from an entrenching shovel of the German production.

During the exhumation one managed to determine the approximate number of the deceased, according to Alexey Yukov, Head of the search party ARMHH “Platzdarm”, they proved to be 10. Thankfully to the personal items that were found at the soldiers, one managed to identify that 8 out of 10 soldiers were Soviet servicemen. The affiliation of two more soldiers is open to question.
