Unique archaeological discoveries in the Black Sea

Marine archaeological project “the Black Sea“ ( “MAP the Black Sea“), a largest for today archaeological project on studying pre-historic and historic archaeology of the Western part of the Black Sea, finished its second expedition.

In the course of investigations conducted from the 1st till 26x of September, a team of scientists studied more than 40 sunken ships which were known until now only from historical documents. The places of shipwrecks, including the ships of IX and X centuries, ships of the period from XII till XIV centuries, also those of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, give us new information about the relations of the peoples living on the shores of the Black sea and demonstrate the lifestyle connected with the sea and seafaring.
